The Three Categories
One runs automatically; two wait for your permission.
Every cookie on UCN Mail falls into one of three groups. Only the first runs without asking you.
Strictly necessary
These make the site work and cannot be switched off. They keep you signed in, protect forms against forgery, and remember the cookie choices you have already made. Without them the dashboard cannot function.
Analytics
Set only if you allow them. They tell us in aggregate which pages get visited, how people arrive, and where they leave, so we know what to fix and what to build. They do not identify you personally and are never combined with your account data or the contents of your mailboxes.
Marketing
Set only if you allow them. They would let us and our advertising partners measure how campaigns perform and show relevant ads elsewhere. This category is off unless you turn it on.
Note
The banner appears on your first visit and nothing in the analytics or marketing categories runs until you accept it. Rejecting them has no effect on your ability to use UCN Mail.
Strictly Necessary Cookies
The ones we set no matter what you choose.
Disabling these will sign you out of the dashboard and cause the cookie banner to reappear on every page.

Analytics Cookies
Google Tag Manager and website measurement.
We use Google Tag Manager, provided by Google Ireland Limited, to load and control the measurement scripts that run on our public website. Tag Manager is a container rather than a tracker: it sets no analytics or advertising cookies of its own. What it does is decide which other tags load, and when — and your consent choice is what tells it.
The tags we load through it are analytics tags that measure use of our marketing website. We do not load Tag Manager, or any tag inside it, on the customer dashboard or the webmail application.

How consent is enforced
Your choice is passed to Google using Google Consent Mode, which sets the analytics_storage, ad_storage, ad_user_data, and ad_personalization signals. Where a signal is denied, the corresponding tag either does not run at all or runs without reading or writing cookies.
What it measures
Pages viewed and their order, approximate location derived from a truncated IP address, referring source, device and browser type, and rough session duration. It never receives your name, your email address, your billing details, or anything from inside a mailbox.

Third-Party Cookies
Other services that may set a cookie.
Besides Google, one other service we rely on may set cookies of its own:
Stripe — payments
Stripe sets cookies to detect fraud and to keep card entry secure. These run on the pages where you add or change a payment method and are necessary for payments to work at all. See Stripe's cookie policy.
Note
We do not sell cookie data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Managing Your Choices
Change your mind at any time.
Use the cookie preferences button in the corner of any page on our public website to review or change what you have allowed. Withdrawing consent stops further collection straight away; it does not erase measurements already recorded, though you can ask us to delete those as well.
You can also control cookies through your browser, which will clear both our cookies and everyone else's:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies
Important
Clearing cookies in your browser also clears the record of your consent choices, so the banner will ask you again on your next visit. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will sign you out of the dashboard.
